saturday_grom_session.jpg

Hey - all you little kids:

We got a session now, made just for you. You don't have to worry about any of the bigger guys being in your way or anything.

Here's how it works: we'll open the doors at 10:00 am - long before we open for everybody else. If somebody is older than 10, they have to wait. And it goes like this until noon! After that, we'll open for regular business.

During this session, we'll often have someone here to help you out. If you need help going down a ramp or something, just ask and they will be glad to help.

We also offer private lessons, too. These lessons are one hour long and one-on-one the whole time. If you would like to sign up for one during this grom session (or any other day), just call the skatepark and ask about our lessons.

DO YOU HAVE A VIDEO THAT YOU FILMED AT PROGRESSIVE?

Well, we are looking to create a new video page that is supplied by you and you along. Whether it is you by yourself or a group of friends, as long as it is footage from Progressive ONLY, we would be happy to post it.  It can be on youtube, vimeo, or anything else. I need a total of at least 12 videos before I can create this page.

Just email it to me HERE. . All you have to do is send me the link. Until then, we can only wait.

Skateboard 101

FREE***FREE***FREE***FREE***FREE***FREE***FREE

We now offer free skateboard lessons to beginners every Wednesday night. If you are just getting into skateboarding, this is for you. We will be introducing elementary basics like proper stance, pushing, going down small ramps, and a couple basic tricks.

We have a little change in our 101 Skateboarding Classes starting Wednesday August 18th.

Due to the overwhelming response from young skaters wanting to learn, we will now limit the number of skaters attending to ten per session. The best way I feel to keep it fair is we will now have 3 one hour sessions on Wednesday nights. The sessions will start at 6:00, 7:00 and 8:00. It will be first come first served, but you can call and reserve your skater a spot and get the time you want. Don't delay, call now.

Oh yeah, it is still FREE to attend.

summer_series_2010.jpg

The Summer series is back again - this time with title sponsor Sidelines Grille. They are going to be kicking some great prizes! We cannot forget about the others, though - Monster Energy, Theeve Trucks, and, of course, SKULL CANDY.

As usual, it is only $5 to enter. You need to show up for 7 of the 8 contests to qualify for prizes. The top 10 in each division will go to a final on October 5th. There will be trophies handed out up to 5th place, and prizes will be awarded out to 10th place. Simple, right?

Basically, it all starts with showing up. If you have done it before, you know the process. If you have not, well, the time has come. Easy format. No pressure. And super easy to walk away with prizes.

So school is back in rotation even though it is still the middle of Summer. I know, rough right? But we might have a remedy on hand...

For the entire month of August, all weekday sessions will be $5! Simple as that! Remember:

After school session: 2:30 - 6:00

Evening session: 6:00 - 9:00

IPATH REMODELS BATHROOM

In an effort to be a little more environmentally conscious, we teamed up with Ipath to install two new waterless urinals and a low-flow toilet.

Together, this new eco-friendly environment featuring bamboo floors and some cool artwork will save in excess of 100,000 gallons of water each year.

SKATERS SAVING SECOND BASE UPDATE

Mike and Jamie met up with Mike Rogers from Grind for Life in California while there for ASR.

On behalf of everyone that participated in the event this year, Mike handed over a check for $7,500.00 to Grind for Life to be used at their discretion. This should go a long way to help out.

CLICK HERE to check out Grind for Life on Facebook.

We are teaming up with A Skate. The A.skate Foundation is a 501(c)3 non profit that allows children with autism to be a part of our social world through skateboarding.

For our part, we will be hosting a skateboard

clinic for 40 children. We are hoping to make this as close to a one-on-one experience as possible, so we are reaching out to you in search of some instructors. All we will be doing are the very basics - stepping on/stepping off, pushing, and a couple of small ramps. If interested, contact us ASAP. More details to come.

The main course will be closed on Sunday August 29th until about 3:00 for Roll Jam Inline Contest.

As are all contests, it will be free to watch from start to finish. There should be some pretty incredible talent in attendance, so I definitely think it will be worth checking out. If you want to catch it from the beginning, doors will be open at 10:00 for practice. We will be open for regular hours afterwards.
